In 1980 a charitable, non-profit corporation was created, entitled Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Community Homes.
In 1983, Saints Peter and Paul Retirement Residence opened as a
Not-for-Profit Retirement Residence committed to providing a dignified quality of life for Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian seniors. The building has two wings:
Our retirement residence has undergone some modifications that will warm your hearts and lift your spirits. We are thrilled to share with you the latest developments in our esteemed community. The changes are nothing short of wonderful, a testament to the dedication and passion put into every hidden corner.
Since 2014, we have been fully dedicated to the cause of energy conservation.
We have successfully completed several key projects, including the installation of a new white roof, conversion to LED lighting throughout the building, upgrading the air conditioning in common areas, installing air cooling systems in corridors, replacing carpeting in all corridors, implementing new security camera systems, installing new windows and doors on the first floor, acquiring new Dining Room furniture, and implementing a new air management system for all units.
Our residence is now a place of pure joy and comfort, a haven for those seeking peace and contentment. We invite you to come and witness the beauty and serenity that now surrounds us. This is not just an update – it is a celebration of life, love, and the enduring spirit of our community.
At the core of our mission lies a deep, commitment to the well-being and safety of our beloved residents. This dedication was put to the ultimate test during the unprecedented challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the countless obstacles in our path, we persevered and we triumphed. For nearly two whole years, we held steadfast in our resolve to keep our home a haven untouched by the virus up to January of 2022. To date we have not lost a resident to COVID.
One of the key pillars of our success was the remarkable transformation of our greenhouse into a Visitors Centre; a beacon of hope in the darkest of times. In this visionary space, families and loved ones found a refuge where they could bridge the physical divide and nourish the bonds that unite us all.
The days may have been long and the nights even longer, but through it all, one truth remained firm – our unwavering dedication to those in our care. And as we look back on those tumultuous times with pride and gratitude, we stand tall, knowing that we did everything in our power to protect, to nurture, and to cherish those who call our home their own.
